Kitchen Cleaning – Five Commonly Forgotten Spots in Kitchen

We all have those moments when we think we have thoroughly cleaned our kitchen. “There is no need for me to hire a professional cleaner for my kitchen,” or “I know how to clean my place and I don’t have to spend for something as petty as cleaning.” But, this is exactly where you’re wrong.

First things first- Cleaning is not anything even close to petty. Secondly, you think you have finished cleaning, but there are still many unseen and undiscovered spots in your kitchen which need deep cleaning. You have never paid attention to these places because you‘re not even aware that they also require cleaning.

Your kitchen is where you cook food and it has to be hygienic and clean at all costs. Therefore, here are five unseen spots in your kitchen which you forgot to clean during your work.

1.    Utensil Holder and Spoon Stand

You clean your kitchen counters and do all the unwashed dishes. But, you do not seem to notice the utensil holder and the spoon stand on the counters, which is exposed to daily dust and dirt or may have collected flour from your recent baking activity. You don’t find it important to at least wash it before using, considering it has been right in front of you the whole time.

But, remember to wash the holder next time. Leave it to dry and then rearrange the utensils and spoons the next day.

2.    Drying Rack

You place all the household utensils in the drying stand to let them dry. Then, you pick them up and arrange them in their specific cabinets. However, you don’t pay attention to the rack itself. The rack needs better cleansing than any other utensil in your kitchen. The daily moisture and humidity leads to the growth of mold on its corners. So, the next time you wash the utensils, make sure to wash the rack as well. Also, clean the area below the rack where there is plenty of accumulated water, leading to germs and mold.

3.    Stove Handles and Knobs

You cleaned the kitchen and then began cooking. Your hands are also washed and you’re satisfied everything in there is clean. But, just as you touched the stove handle, you caught plenty of germs and dirt on your hands. Yes, this is what happens when you don’t clean the kitchen stove thoroughly inside out. It is of no use to keep the kitchen clean if the stoves are unclean. So, remember to clean the knobs as well.

4.    Coffee Machines and Blenders

Coffee makers and blenders are a blessing for us. But, the question is how often do you clean them? Unattended machinery may act as a breeding ground for mold and yeast, which may also impact the taste of the beverage. These machines are easy to disassemble. Therefore, make sure to wash them before you use them.

5.    Clean the Trashcan

Trashcans are one of the main breeding areas for germs. Do spray them with a germicide  on a weekly basis. These germs can affect your kitchen environment and food as well, if not treated. So, wash the can and sanitize it with a germicide.
