Showing Ants an Exit from Your Home
- Saturday, April 2, 2016
Aren’t you fed up of the ant armies swarming in your kitchen every wet season? Ants need a dry place to survive, and thus, they invade the privacy of your home and snake towards to walls of your house. And if they are not treated in time, they will find their way to food and their favorite- sugar!
Having these tiny insects around is a health hazard to you and your family members as well. They find their way to every least possible nook and cranny, places you would never expect. There is certainly no denying the fact that ants are determined creatures.
Question is, how do you show them the exit? There are some natural home remedies to keep your environment free from ants in a green way.
DO NOT Leave Food Uncovered
Before carrying out a plan to eradicate their existence in your home, figure out why they are there.
The uncovered food in your kitchen and dining room is an open invitation to these little troopers. Moreover, any sweet item may also attract them. Make sure any all food is covered properly and sweet items are packed in tightly closed containers. When you are using sugar or honey or anything that is sweet, remember to clean the countertops as soon as you’re done.
Using Cinnamon
Ground cinnamon is a magical home remedy. If ants have just entered your place and you know they can’t be defeated, pull out your cinnamon jar and grind it. Then, sprinkle it on all possible party spots and entrances.
You’d be surprised to see that they’ve literally vanished in thin air. They follow each other by the spray the first ant leaves i.e. pheromone trail. Cinnamon will end this smell so the following ants lose their track.
Sprinkling Peppermint
Peppermint will serve the same purpose as that of cinnamon. If you’re not a cinnamon supporter to defeat this troop, hold on to peppermint and sprinkle it on ants and show them the exit door.
Vinegar- An Age-Old Savior
Vinegar is an all time cleaning agent. Be it your dustbins, countertops, or artificial flowers, vinegar is always there to save the day!
Spraying vinegar on baseboards and any cracks or holes will help to distinguish their pheromone trail, blinding other ants. Repeating the process several times will deter these creatures for good.
Hire a Professional Cleaner
If you have tried all that you could do in your capacity to get rid of these tiny insects, do not give up. Try this one last option as well, of hiring a professional cleaner.
Do not keep trying home remedies in the hope that it will give you the result soon. If you see no instant results, this is so not the situation to wait and watch. Immediately move on to the next step. Call a professional cleaner and let them help you to get rid of these feeble yet powerful creatures. You lack of attention will help them penetrate in upholstery and other sensitive places in your house. Do not give them the time.
